DIGITAL LEARNING REPORT 2014
DIGITAL LEARNING REPORT 2014
This annual report comes from KSDE and shares information about current digital landscapes of Kansas schools.
About Our Technology
Belle Plaine School District offers a variety of technology tools to our staff and students. We are in the first year of our 1:1 initiative with 4th-8th grades having iPads and 9th-12th grades using MacBook Airs. We currently have 5 laptop carts, 3 computers labs, iPad minis and eReaders in the ES library, and an iPod cart to round out student technology devices. Our high school staff have been issued Macbook Pros to work along with our students 1:1 in the high school. All teachers have an iPad to supplement their classwork and the middle school and elementary teachers utilize Windows 7 desktops in their classrooms. Over ninety-two percent of our classrooms have a Promethean Board. Teachers have available to them CPS Clickers, ActiVotes and ActivExpressions which are student response systems that allow pupils to answer questions electronically and will tally results for the teacher instantly. Our elementary has an IDL (Interactive Distance Learning) room where classes can collaborate with other classes across the globe in real time using Polycom video equipment.

The District's infrastucture consists of fiber between all buildings. We have in place Alcatel-Lucent switches and wireless system. We have 5 servers ranging from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Server 2003 one of those new and installed this summer.

We have a great technology staff. Jason Trask joined us this past summer as our new Network Administrator. Marla Morley is our student information system administrator. Leslie Miller is our high school technician/librarian. Angie Ames is our elementary school technician/printer. Tara Golden is the technology coordinator. This group works very hard to maintain all of our new technology endeavors and keeping up with latest trends.
